What is a Fax Meet anyways????
A traditional Fax Meet is where any number of teams sign up for an event held on a scheduled date, or over weekend in case of weather. A draw is done prior to the weekend with a pre set number of rounds. A draw can be comprised of both block moves as well as randoms. The unique part of a fax meet is that the teams are located at all different dz's. The rounds are faxed to each of the teams that have signed up and judging is done on the honor system. Teams can be geographically dispersed all over the states, or in this case, the world. Results are faxed back to the organizer and posted up once all dives are completed showing the winner.

How can you have an Online Fax Meet????
When fax meets first came around, faxing was the best way to accomplish this. Now with the internet we can not only be more efficient, but we can reach a broader audience. If you are a team in France, the UK or Australia, it's very easy for you to compete head to head with a team located in Perris Valley or Chicago. We're taking the idea of a Fax Meet and bringing it to a new level with technology thus putting it online.

When can I sign up my team?
Teams will be able to sign up starting 1 week prior to the draw. Updates on this website will show a sign up page where you will be required to list your DZ, team members, team name, and if you like, a spot to upload a picture of your team. |
How early can my team get the draw?
Draws will be completed and posted sometime (TBD) Thursday evening E.S.T. (-05:00 GMT). This is to account for those half way around the world, and 16 or 17 hours ahead of the states. Dives can occur at any time over the weekend and reported back once complete.

Why are we doing a fax meet when we've got competitions lined up already?
While we do have several competitions lined up, Perris, Chicago, Eloy, etc....All of these locations are in the United States. If there is one team in Australia or Spain that really wants to get into VRW 4way, then an Online Fax Meet enables them to do so without the $5,000 in plane tickets, plus hotels and rental cars. Added to that, local teams in the US also have this benefit. So not only are we eliminating travel costs, we are also enabling teams to jump at their local dropzones using their block jumps at discounted rates.

Great Q & A, but you didn't answer my question...

No worries, simply send an e-mail to "q DOT a AT vrw4way DOT com" Sorry about the cryptic address, but spam is just too much. If you have a good question then we will post it here! |
